HINDU STUDENTS RAISE DEMANDS AHEAD OF INTERIM GOVERNMENT MEETING

The Hindu students of Bangladesh made an eight-points demand charter for their meeting with Yunus that took place on Monday. Yunus stated earlier that the meeting will be based on the welfare and protection of Hindu minorities.

The raised demands of the students included: special tribunal establishment to expedite trials for those who has persecuted minorities, justified compensation of the victims and immediate execution of minority protection law. Apart from these- 10 percent parliamentary seats allocation for minorities, a dependable ministry for minority affairs, five-day holiday during Durga Puja, upgradation of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust to a foundation, and also modernisation of the Pali Education Board.

About the offence ushered upon Hindus, the Interim Government stated: “the attacks on religious minorities in some places have been noted with grave concern,”; it further mentioned “immediately sit with the representative bodies and other concerned groups to find ways to resolve such heinous attacks.
